ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul softball team (12-24, 6-10 NSIC) wraps up a six-game road trip on Tuesday as they travel south to Upper Iowa (26-12, 12-4 NSIC) for a pair of NSIC contests. First pitch for game one is set for 2 p.m.
The Golden Bears are coming off a 1-3 weekend in which they knocked off MSU Moorhead 12-2 in five innings in game two on Sunday for the win. Despite the results in the win-loss column,
Sarah Kivisto,
Emily Shinn and
Justine Schattner all contributed at the plate in the four-game stretch.
Kivisto reached base an impressive seven out of 12 trips as she walked four times and collected three hits in the four games. Shinn stepped up on Sunday and delivered three extra base hits as she hit her first career homer in game one before doubling twice in game two. Schattner finished the weekend with a team-leading five hits as she also drove in three in Sunday's win to bring her total to 38 on the year.
In the all-time series with the Peacocks, the Golden Bears have fared well as they have collected 22 wins in 29 previous meetings. In 17 contests in Fayette, CSP has won 13 and dropped just four. Concordia had a three game winning streak in the series snapped in game two of a doubleheader last year as Upper Iowa salvaged the split.
