ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Golden Bears women's basketball team (2-2) will be playing their first home games of the season this weekend in the Radisson Hotel MSP North Classic as they host Concordia-Portland on Friday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. and then hosting Jamestown (N.D.) on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.
Concordia concluded their non-conference portion of the schedule this past weekend coming away with a hard fought 68-61 win at Northern Michigan, but fell the following day at Michigan Tech by a score of 62-76.
Lindsay Dorr posted a career-high 24 points off the bench in the win at NMU while also adding seven rebounds.
Anna Schmitt added 18 points and nine rebounds against the Wildcats while
Kyrah Fredenburg pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds. Against Michigan Tech, CSP held a two point lead at the half, but a strong second half by MTU propelled the Huskies to the 14 point win. Despite the loss, Schmitt finished with a team-high 23 points on 10-15 shooting while also adding three assists. Dorr again produced well off the bench with 14 points in 25 minutes of play and Fredenburg again dominated the boards as she pulled in a season-high 18 rebounds against the Huskies.
Scouting Concordia-Portland (2-2)
The Cavaliers started off the season with a pair of double-digit wins against California State University Monterey Bay and Stanislaus State, but they have dropped their previous two matchups this past weekend in the Concordia Classic against Westminster College (Utah) by one point and a 15 point loss to Metropolitan State University of Denver. Concordia will be playing their first road games of the season at the Radisson Hotel MSP North Classic. They will be playing Wayne State (Neb.) on day two of the tournament.
The Cavaliers are led by Erin Higbie, Danielle Hartzog, and Keesha Sarman. Higbie is averaging a team-leading 10.0 points per game while also leading the team in rebounds per game with 5.8 and ranks third on the team in steals with seven. Hartzog is second on the team in scoring averaging 9.8 points per game while pulling in 4.5 rebounds per game and ranking second on the team in steals with eight. Both Higbie and Hartzog have come off the bench in the first four games for Concordia. Sarman ranks third on the team in scoring with 9.0 points per game while averaging a team-leading 3.0 assists per game and team-leading nine steals. CU has been outstanding from the free-throw line making 71.8 percent of their attempts. They have also registered 25 blocks on the year, 16 of which have come from their 6-3 center, Jordyn Peacock.
CSP is 1-4 all-time against Concordia-Portland with their last meeting coming back on Dec. 28, 1992. CSP won that matchup by a score of 59-51 at the Concordia Invitational Tournament.
Scouting Jamestown (N.D.) (5-2)
The Jimmies are off to a very good start in this young season with a 5-2 overall record and currently on a four game winning streak. At the start of their four game winning streak, UJ defeated Dordt College by a score of 80-45 and then topped Northland College by a score of 92-44. They then went on to defeat St. Scholastica by narrow three point victory and their most recent win came at Concordia-Moorhead by a score of 69-57. All of the Jimmies wins during the winning streak have come on the road. Jamestown has also played three exhibition games, all against NSIC schools and have emerged victorious in those three matchups.
UJ is led by Kyra Dewald who is averaging a team leading 14.4 points per game and has recorded a team-high 17 steals through seven games. Bryn Woodside ranks second on the team in scoring coming at 9.6 points per game while leading the team with 27 assists. Taylor Hammer has been playing well for the Jimmies as she ranks third on the team in scoring with 9.3 points per game and team-leading 9.3 rebounds per game. Hammer has racked up 21 offensive rebounds this season. Jamestown has been shooting the three-point ball quite often as they have attempted 156 three-pointers compared to their opponents combined 88 three-point attempts. The Jimmies have been a high-scoring team averaging 76.9 points per game while holding their opponents to 62.7 points per game.
CSP is 3-0 all-time against Jamestown having faced off against each other each of the previous three seasons at the Radisson Hotel MSP North Classic. CSP won the first ever matchup between the two teams by 17 points but the previous two meetings have been closer, with CSP winning only by seven in 2014 and then winning only by two in overtime last year.

Lindsay Dorr has been providing a big spark of the bench for CSP as she is currently second on the team in scoring averaging 15.3 points per game. She poured in a career-high 24 points in the win at Northern Michigan last Friday. She also ranks third on the team in rebounds with 3.5 per game and is tied for first in total blocks with four.

Mishayla Jones has been working hard on the court for the Golden Bears as she currently leads the team with 37.8 minutes played per game. She ranks firsts in total assists and steals with 20 and eight, respectively. Jones also ranks third on the team in scoring with 10.0 points per game.

Kyrah Fredenburg has been dominating the boards just like she did all last season coming averaging 12.0 rebounds per game this young season which ranks first on the team and second in the NSIC. She pulled in a season-high 18 rebounds in the loss at Michigan Tech last Saturday.
- Through the first four games of the season CSP has shot .442 from the field while holding their opponents to .390 from the field. They also have a .349 three-point field goal percentage compared to their opponents .329 from downtown.
