Golden Bears look to snap own & extend SMSU's skid

Concordia aims to stop six game losing streak while extending SMSU's three game slide

ST. PAUL, Minn. - This Saturday, Concordia-St. Paul (2-6 NSIC, 0-4 South) will head to Mattke Field at Schwan Regional Event Center to face Southwest Minnesota State (4-4 NSIC, 1-3 South) with a 1 p.m. kickoff.

The two teams are each riding late season slumps with CSP losing six straight and SMSU riding a three game losing streak. Head coach Shannon Currier is a perfect 4-0 against SMSU, winning his only trip to Marshall, Minnesota 37-19 in 2003. Currier was offensive coordinator for the Mustangs in 1997 and 1998 before taking the same position in the first year of Concordia's move to NCAA Division II and the NSIC. He was promoted to head coach in 2000 and led CSP to four straight winning campaigns and a 2003 NSIC Championship including an NSIC Coach of the Year honor and the program's first postseason game at the Mineral Water Bowl.
