ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul softball team (9-22, 3-5 NSIC) will play host to Bemidji State (12-12, 3-5 NSIC) and Minnesota Crookston (4-22, 0-8 NSIC) this weekend in their NSIC home opener. First pitch is set for noon on both days.
 
The Golden Bears have had played a packed schedule since opening up NSIC play on Saturday. CU has played eight conference games over the past six days, including six in the past four days.
 
In the past six games, Liz Jarosz has turned it on at the plate as she has delivered a slash line of .400/.478/.650 with a homer and three RBI during that span. She has also stole a base and tied for the team lead with five runs.
 
Nicole Thompson, Teona Zepeda and Emily Shinn have all hit over .300 during that span as they collected eight, seven and six hits, respectively.
 
Concordia has dominated the all-time series against Bemidji State, winning 29 of the 32 meetings between the two schools. The Golden Bears carry a five game winning streak against the Beavers into the weekend after they grabbed a sweep last season at the West St. Paul Dome. CU took game one by a score of 6-3 and game two 14-0.
 
The Golden Bears have been even more successful against the Golden Eagles as they hold a record of 29-1 in 30 meetings. The only UMC win in the series came back on April 20, 2002 as CU has won the last 26 in a row. Stephanie Kappes provided a major highlight last season in game one of the doubleheader between the two teams as she threw a five-inning no-hitter in a 22-0 win.
