ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia University soccer team (1-4, 1-2 NSIC) will look to carry momentum from last Sunday's 3-1 win into homecoming weekend as they host Minnesota Crookston (2-2-2, 1-1-1 NSIC) on Friday and Bemidji State (3-3, 2-1 NSIC) on Sunday. Friday's match will begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday's will begin at 1 p.m.

The Golden Bears are coming off their first win of the season with a 3-1 win at Sioux Falls on Sunday afternoon. Taryn MacMillan scored her first two goals for the Golden Bears to lead the way. The two goal cushion was all that goalkeeper Emma Gartner needed to pick up the win. Gartner finished with five saves while only conceding one goal in the win.

Concordia has been successful against the Golden Eagles CU has won five straight and 11 of 16 overall against UMC.  Last season, the Golden Bears used an early Alahna Anderson goal in a 1-0 win in their first shutout of the year. Anderson got the Golden Bears on the board at the 9:21 mark in the first half on her first tally of her career. Concordia's defense took it from there, shutting the door on a potential Golden Eagle comeback. Emma Gartner got the start in net as she made two saves to pick up the win.

Minnesota Crookston enters the weekend riding a three-match unbeaten streak as they tied Northern Michigan before knocking off Minot State 1-0 and tying U-Mary at one.

CU has gone 5-10-2 in 17 previous meetings with the Beavers. The Golden Bears have however put together a 4-4-2 record against BSU in 10 home matches overall. Last year, Concordia fell 2-0 on the road in Bemidji as the Beavers struck first on Sarah Stram's first goal of the season in the 20th minute.  The Golden Bears outshot 7-5 in the first half, but were only able to put two on net. CU went into the half down 1-0, but just about eight minutes into the second half Bemidji State extended the lead to two on a Mary O'Brien tally from Jessie Voeller.  Concordia was unable to cut into the lead and were held scoreless in the game.  Concordia once again attempted more shots than the Beavers in the second half by a margin of 8-6 but each team put four on net.

Bemidji State split last weekend's matches as they defeated U-Mary 2-1 before falling to Minot State 1-0.
