ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University soccer team (4-5-1) cruised to a dominant 7-0 win over Presentation (S.D.) (3-9-0) on Thursday night as Sea Foam Stadium. Six different Golden Bears scored with
Alahna Anderson leading the way with two goals and an assist on the night.
Concordia dominated from start to finish as they fired a staggering 32 shots with 15 on goal, both season highs. The Saints were held to just five shots with three on net.
Emily Ecklund got the scoring going early as she launched a corner out in front of the net and it was deflected in off a PC defender. The goal was Ecklund's second goal of the year and second scored in that fashion.
Next is was
Alahna Anderson's turn as she made it 3-0 with a pair of goals in the span of six minutes midway through the first half. The first of the two goals came on a some beautiful passing from
Sarah Pieper and
Sam McBain. Anderson added the second tally on a loose ball off a long shot that she hammered home. The two goals were Anderson's first of the season and ninth and tenth of her career after she led the team with eight goals last year.
Sam McBain added a goal of her own from Anderson in the 39th minute to give CU a 4-0 advantage going into the break. The goal was the senior's fourth of her career.
The Golden Bears kept up the attack in the second half as
Lauren Anderson scored her first goal in navy and gold as she chested in a shot off a deep cross from
Tori Lust in the 53rd minute.
Lauren Anderson, a freshman, made the most of her first career shot for the Golden Bears.
Another freshman,
Logan Daulton, was next to join the party as she snuck behind the Saints defenders in the 72nd minute and beat the keeper to put home her second goal in as many games for CU.
The final goal of the night was another first as
Coco Piche picked up her first career goal on a rebound of a shot off the post to bring us to the final score of 7-0.
Kate Mallory got her first career start in net and made the most of it as she delivered a shutout. She went mostly untested as she made three saves in the win.
Concordia is back on the road this weekend as they travel to North Dakota to take on U-Mary and Minot State.
