Concordia holds off Upper Iowa comeback

FAYETTE, Iowa - Concordia-St. Paul (14-6, 9-4 NSIC) saw Upper Iowa (5-12, 4-9 NSIC) erase an 18-point lead before Concordia eventually survived the road upset scare in a 71-65 win at Dorman Gym on Friday night.

The 1,000-point scorers, senior Rachel Hansen and junior Anika Whiting, scored Concordia's final nine points in the last 1:40 of play to propel the visiting Golden Bears. Hansen hit a three-pointer with 1:40 to break a 62-62 tie and a layup with 51 seconds left to break a 65-65 tie. Whiting was 4-of-4 at the line in the last 24 seconds while the defense kept the Peacocks from scoring again.

Hansen finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists while playing turnover free in 40 minutes. She made 9-of-11 at the stripe. Whiting had 11 points and seven rebounds despite 2-of-8 shooting from the field.
