PUEBLO, Colo. – The Concordia soccer team dropped its season opener to UC-Colorado Springs 3-0 Friday night, despite outshooting the Mountain Lions 19-18.
Pueblo opened the scoring in the 17
th minute on a Hannah Levitt goal from the top of the box. The Golden Bears were unable to get any of their nine shots in the first half on net.
In the second half, Agnes Arnadottir extended the lead to 2-0 at the 55 minute mark on a ball taken in from midfield. She added another in the 63
rd minute to put the score at 3-0.
Concordia started
Kayla Kuczaboski (Vadnais Heights, Minn. ) in net and she collected four saves for the game.
Brittany Kapala (Fridley, Minn. ),
Jess Bianchi (Rogers, Minn.) Taryn MacMillan (Eagan, Minn.) and
Erica Landry (Mukwonago, Wis.) were all involved on the offensive end with each attempting three shots.
Coach Bellis said there were lots of positives to take from the opening game knowing they need to be more efficient in front of the goal.
Concordia returns to action on Sunday at 11 a.m. against CSU-Pueblo. They return to Seafoam Stadium for their home opener next Thursday, September 12
th, against Minnesota State.
