ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University women's soccer team (2-5, 1-3 NSIC) dropped a hard fought 1-0 decision to the Northern State Wolves (6-1, 3-1 NSIC). The Golden Bears were once again unable to capitalize on scoring chances despite outshooting their opponent 12-10. NSU sits at fifth in the conference with nine point, three out of first, while the Golden Bears fall to 12th with three points.
Concordia was strong in the first half, limiting the high-powered Northern State offense to just four shots, none on goal. The Golden Bears consistently turned away any NSU efforts but were unable to get anything going themselves with only a
Taryn MacMillan shot on goal to show for their four shot attempts.
CU put on some pressure in the opening minutes of the second half with a flurry of shots but were unable to gey anything on net. The match looked to be headed to overtime before Allie MacDonald struck in the 77th minute to give the Wolves the deciding goal. Concordia got a chance to tie it on a Kay Smith shot but Brittany Tietz made the save to keep the score at 1-0.
Alahna Anderson led the Golden Bears with five shots (one on goal) to lead the Golden Bears. She now has a team-high 22 shots on the year. Goalkeeper
Emma Gartner continued her snakebitten ways picking up the loss and falling to 1-4 despite boasting a 1.00 GAA.
Concordia is back in action tomorrow in Moorhead at 1:00 p.m. to take on the Dragons (0-6, 0-4 NSIC). They return home on October 4th with a match against Upper Iowa to open up homecoming weekend.
