BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Concordia University women's soccer team (2-4, 1-2 NSIC) dropped a conference match 2-0 this afternoon to the Bemidji State Beavers (5-1, 2-1 NSIC). Concordia is now 5-10-2 all-time against the Beavers and just 1-6 in Bemidji.
The Beavers struck first on Sarah Stram's first goal of the season in the 20th minute. The Golden Bears outshot 7-5 in the first half, but were only able to put two on net.
CU went into the half down 1-0, but just about eight minutes into the second half Bemidji State extended the lead to two on a Mary O'Brien tally from Jessie Voeller. Concordia was unable to cut into the lead and were held scoreless in the game. Concordia once again attempted more shots than the Beavers in the second half by a margin of 8-6 but each team put four on net.
Alahna Anderson (White Bear Lake, Minn.) and
Erica Landry (Mukwonago, Wis.) were both active on offense for the Golden Bears with five and four shots, respectively. Goalkeeper
Emma Gartner (Springdale, Ark.) fell to 1-3 on the season but boasts a 1.00 goals against average.
Concordia is back on the road next weekend with matches against Northern State on Saturday and MSU Moorhead on Sunday.
