ROCHESTER, Minn. - Just hours after using late inning heroics in an extra inning win, No. 8 seed Concordia-St. Paul (29-15) was victimized by No. 2 seed Minnesota Duluth's (40-11) late inning heroics in a 2-1 loss in 12 innings at RCTC Dome. The game spanned nearly three hours (2:48).

The Golden Bears will look to play back through in the double-elimination tournament tomorrow at 2 p.m. on the North Field against the No. 3 Winona State (32-11) / No. 9 U-Mary (24-18) winner.

The Bulldogs scored the winning run with two outs on a wild pitch. Tyra Kerr delivered a one-out single up the middle and advance to second on a passed ball and to third on the same play on a throwing error. A ground out back to the pitcher kept Kerr on third before she darted home on the wild pitch, an unearned run for the UMD win.

Through two games, senior right hander Ashley Kluever (Cottage Grove, Minn. ) has pitched all 19.2 innings for the Golden Bears, allowing just one earned run. She pitched 8.0 innings in the WSC win, before going 11.2 innings in the UMD loss.

Concordia broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning when Missie Feuerbach (Iowa City, Iowa) grounded into a fielder's choice with the bases loaded, with UMD getting the runner at third out with Alicia Meiser (Circle Pines, Minn.) crossing the plate on the plate after she led-off the inning with a ground rule double.

The Bulldogs finally tied the game by hitting a pair of one-out singles to put runners on first and third in the seventh inning. A ground out to second base scored the game's tying run and put the winning run on second with two outs.

The seventh inning run snapped Kluever's scoreless streak at 13.2 innings, allowing a run in the first inning win over Wayne State earlier in the day before the seventh inning run against UMD.

In her 11.2 innings, Kluever allowed seven singles and five walks while striking out eight. She drops to 18-9 while lowering her season ERA to 3.01 - over a .30 drop in today's two starts.

On the other side, UMD's Julia Nealer went all 12.0 innings, allowing one earned run on five hits with five walks and 12 strikeouts.

The pitcher duo combined to throw 414 pitches to the 94 batters that stepped to the plate. The teams combined to hit .145 (12-83).

M.Feuerbach went 2-5 with Concordia's only RBI. Meiser went 1-4 with two walks, her 37th stolen base and Concordia's only run while adding her eighth double. Tessa Ewert (Hutchinson, Minn.) also doubled (her second) and went 1-3 before being replaced.

Concordia hit just 1-16 with runners on base and 1-13 in RPI opportunities in the game including 0-12 hitting with two outs. However, they held UMD to 3-21 hitting with runners on base and 0-12 hitting in RBI opportunities.
