ST. PAUL, Minn. -
The Concordia Golden Bears soccer team (4-11, 3-9 NSIC) were shut out by the #25 Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs (14-1, 11-1 NSIC) on Saturday afternoon at Sea Foam Stadium.  The Golden Bears had their seven game winning streak against the Mustangs snapped as they dropped their third game in a row at home.

The Mustangs jumped on the Golden Bears in the 13th minute on Miranda Cadena's 11th goal of the season on a beautiful pass from Kendahl Fisher across the middle.  The assist was Fisher's 10th on the team, setting an SMSU single season school record with 10.  It didn't take long for her to add to that total as just 48 seconds later she made another pinpoint pass to Vanesa Corona on the left side of the net and she put it home for her fourth goal of the year to put SMSU up 2-0.  Liz Darkow threatened to cut into the lead late in the first half on a shot from about 20 yards out but it drilled the crossbar and rolled into the possession of the Mustangs.

Southwest Minnesota State dominated possession in the second half on the windy afternoon, taking advantage of a strong wind at their backs.  Concordia was unable to get much going to get back in the game with no shots on goal in the half compared to seven for SMSU.  The Mustangs added an insurance goal in the 84th minute on a Justine Hauck goal.  Hauck had just entered the game and took a pass from Miranda Cadena down the right side and buried it for her fifth of the season.

Emma Gartner got the start in net for the Golden Bears and fell to 1-7 on the year.

Brienna Dehkes picked up her seventh shutout on the season as she improved to 13-1 on the season.

Concordia is back at Sea Foam Stadium tomorrow afternoon to take on the Sioux Falls Cougars.
