ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University soccer team (4-10-0, 3-8-0 NSIC) dropped a 2-1 decision to the St Cloud State Huskies (7-6-1, 4-3-1 NSIC) at Sea Foam Stadium Sunday afternoon. A second half goal from Erica Landry cut the lead to one, but Concordia came up short. CU is now 2-10-1 all-time against SCSU.
The first half was uneventful with only five combined shots and only one on goal for the Huskies. Kayla Kuczaboski got the start in net for the Golden Bears and stopped the only shot in the half.
The Huskies broke the tie in the 56th minute on a header from Michelle Cornell off a corner from Faith Bila. The goal was Cornell's fifth of the year. Just three minutes later St. Cloud struck again on another corner as Skye Finley put home a header from Kara Dahmen for her first goal of the year. Down 2-0, the Golden Bears clawed their way back to cut the lead to 2-1 on Erica Landry's third goal of the year in the 71st minute on a break away behind the defense as she put it past the goalie and into the back of the net. Concordia couldn't get anything going after that and dropped their second straight game.
Kayla Kuczaboski fell to 3-4 on the year and Alahna Anderson picked up the lone assist on the Landry goal.
Concordia is back home next weekend against SMSU and USF.
