Anderson leads Golden Bears past Wildcats

WAYNE, Neb. - Alahna Anderson struck twice as the Concordia Golden Bears (4-8, 3-6 NSIC) defeated the Wayne State Wildcats (1-10-1, 1-7-1 NSIC) 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.  Anderson has six goals on the year and five in the last five games.  Kayla Kuczaboski improved to 3-3 on the year with the win.

The Golden Bears got on the board in the 21st minute after Alahna Anderson picked up a rebound off a Liz Darkow shot off the post and put it in the back of the net.  Concordia fired eight shots, six on net, in the first half as they put consistent pressure on goalie Kylie Comba.  Wayne State had six shots but only two on goal in the half.

Concordia added onto their lead in the 57th minute as Anderson buried one from about ten yards out.  The second goal gave Anderson her first multi-goal game of her career. Taryn MacMillan picked up the lone assist on the goal  Macy Hagen cut the lead in half off a corner with her third goal of the year in the 77th minute, but it was too late for the Wildcats.  Wayne State was unable to get much pressure on in the final few minutes as the Golden Bears came out with the 2-1 victory.

Kayla Kuczaboski made four saves to pick up her third win of the year.

Concordia will look to keep it going at home next weekend with Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State coming to town.
