BISMARK, N.D. – In its fourth overtime game of the season, the Concordia University soccer team fell 3-2 at the University of Mary on Sunday afternoon. U-Mary scored 6:42 into overtime, dropping the Golden Bears to 4-5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the NSIC.
U-Mary capitalized on its second shot of the game and took a 1-0 lead at the 20:22 mark. The Marauders quickly tacked on another goal in the 25th minute by Andrea Muller, assisted by Blaire Brookshire and Michelle Jones.
Ensuing a U-Mary foul, the Golden Bears ended the shutout as
Kim Sauberlich (Appleton, Wis.) scored on a penalty kick at the 35:51 mark – her first of the season. Six minutes later,
Sam McBain (Faribault, Minn.) recorded her first goal of the season as well after a loose ball to tie the game 2-2.
The Marauders claimed their fourth win in the NSIC (4-3-0), though, following a free kick goal by Kelsey Pacpaco in overtime.
Kayla Kuczaboski (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) (1-3-0) took the complete game loss after facing 15 shots and making three saves. CU tallied 14 shots against Ashley Akers, who made seven saves.
The Bears return home on October 5 for Homecoming weekend to face Wayne State. The game at Sea Foam Stadium will begin at 7:00 p.m.
