ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia University soccer team remained unbeaten at home Friday night, defeating Wayne State 3-1 at Sea Foam Stadium. The Golden Bears improve to 5-5-1 overall, 4-3-1 in the NSIC and are 5-0-1 at home.
Brittany Kapala (Fridley, Minn.) got the scoring started at the 28:42 mark on a cold, windy night in St. Paul.
Chloe Moore (Lakeville, Minn.) sent a high pass into the box from the right side where Kapala connected for her fourth goal of the season.
In the 41st minute, Moore tallied her fourth goal of the season after
Amanda Olsen (Cottage Grove, Minn.) sent in a perfect corner kick right in front of the goal. The score remained 2-0 at the break.
The Wildcats ended the shutout quickly into the second half as Kayli Hopper scored 5:22 into the period. McKenna Adams fired a shot that bounced off the post where Hopper was positioned to put in the rebound.
In the 68th minute, Moore posted her second goal of the game and fifth of the season. Olsen was once again credited with the assist off a corner kick. Olsen now has a NSIC-leading nine assists and 19 points.
Emma Gartner (Springdale, Ark.) improved her record to 4-2-0 with the complete game win. She tallied one save and now has a 1.09 goals against average. Courtney True took the loss after making six saves. The Golden Bears took 15 shots compared to six by the Wildcats.
Concordia returns to Sea Foam Stadium on Sunday afternoon for a game against Augustana. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
