MINOT, N.D. – In the inaugural meeting between the two institutions, the Concordia University soccer team fell by a score of 2-1 at Minot State on Saturday afternoon, ending a three-game win streak. The Golden Bears drop to 4-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the NSIC, while the Beavers move to 6-2-1 and 4-2-0 in league play.
Minot State scored the first goal of the game 2:11 into the opening period. A foul on Concordia gave the Beavers a free kick from 15 yards out where Jamie Council connected for the goal. The Golden Bears answered at the 10:01 mark on their first shot of the game as
Jess Bianchi (Rogers, Minn.) netted her third goal of the season.
Nearly 25 minutes of scoreless play passed before Zoe Fisher regained the Minot State lead. Lexy Kidd was credited with the assist and the score remained 2-1 at the break.
Emma Gartner (Springdale, Ark.) (3-2-0) faced 10 shots and made eight saves in her fifth start of the year. On the other end of the pitch, Marie Torres tallied two saves against three shots.
Concordia continues its road trip Sunday at the University of Mary. The game is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
