GAME 1

The Mavericks started the scoring in game one with two out homerun by Lindsay Erickson to left center field. Concordia failed to score in their half of the first inning leaving a pair of runners on, they did tie the game up in the bottom of the first as Tessa Ewert (Hutchinson, Minn.) went down and golfed a 1-2 pitch over the fence for a home run.

Minnesota State took the lead back in the top of the second when Erickson hit her second home run of day putting MSU up 2-1. Concordia went down in order in the third inning as the score remained 2-1 after three. In the top of the fourth inning the Mavericks opened up the game scoring five runs, three unearned.

The fourth started with a double to right center followed by an error. Minnesota State would go on to pick up two more hits on the way to their five runs in the inning, but still leaving two on base. After a silent fifth inning for both teams, MSU added a run in the sixth before CU tried to battled back. With two out in the inning the Golden Bears drew three straight walks to load the bases and then senior Katie Anderson (Mendota Heights, Minn.) crushed a ball to right field for a grand slam bringing Concordia within three at 8-5.

Unfortunately the Mavericks added two more in the top of the seventh and Concordia left the bases loaded in the bottom of their inning falling 10-5 in the opener. Concordia left 10 runners on base in the first game as the Mavericks just out hit MSU 7-6 on the day.

GAME 2

Concordia was the visitor in the second game of the double header and just missed out on a chance to score leaving the bases loaded. Brynn Larsen (Oconto Falls, Wis.) drew a one out walk and Calli Brennan (Mendota Heights, Minn.) had a single. After Erin Tjornhom (Eagan, Minn.) walked Missie Feuerbach (Iowa City, Iowa) reached on a fielder's choice as Larsen was out and home and Bekah Roth (Shoreview, Minn.) grounded out to end the inning. It would end up being the Golden Bears best chance to score as MSU started Courtney McKelvogue settled down.

Minnesota State picked up a run in the second and third inning. Brittani Robinson led off the second with a home run and a two out single provided their second run in the bottom of the third. Concordia had a chance to score in the sixth inning when Larsen singled to lead off the inning but back to back fielder's choice and M. Feuerbach struck out swinging.

Stephanie Kappes (Circle Pines, Minn.) pitched very well, scattering eight hits and allowing just two runs. She was out done by McKelvogue allowed just five hits picking up the shutout.
