GAME 1 vs Indiana (Pa.)

CU got up early picking up a run as Katie Anderson (Mendota Heights, Minn.) singled and then later stole third, scoring on the over throw on her steal. Kappes gave up a hit in the first but then shut down Indiana (Pa.) the next two inning setting them down in order.

Concordia got a hit in the third, fourth and fifth inning but did not get any more. Kappes allowed a hit in the fourth but nothing in the fifth as Concordia came to the plate in the sixth up 1-0.

In the sixth inning Brennan and Tjornhom had back to back one out singles to start the rally. After Roth reached on a error, Cassie Bertelsen (Oakdale, Minn.) hit a two out, two RBI single giving CU a 3-0 lead. Kappes again put Indiana (Pa.) down in order in the sixth.

The Golden Bears got two more runs in the top of the seventh thanks to a lead off single by Anderson and a triple by Brynn Larsen (Oconto Falls, Wis.) scoring Anderson. Next up Brennan had a suicide bunt reaching base as they tried to cut Larsen down at home but were unsuccessful. Concordia held a 5-0 lead going to the bottom of the seventh and held on for the 5-0 win.

GAME 2 vs Shippensburg

Katie Feuerbach (Iowa City, Iowa) got in trouble in the top of the first by hitting two batters with two out and then walking the next batter to load the bases up. She got out of the inning by getting a fielder choice cutting down the runner headed to third.

Shippensburg did not let the same thing happen in the top of the second as they pushed across three runs on four hits and an error. It could have been worse but Anderson threw out the runner tying to score for the third out after the fourth hit of the inning.

Concordia got a pair of runs in their half of the third. Tessa Ewert (Hutchinson, Minn.) and Alicia Meiser (Circle Pines, Minn.) had singles to start the inning. After two straight outs Calli Brennan (Mendota Heights, Minn.) tripled down the left field line to score Ewert and Meiser.

The Golden Bears threatened in the bottom of the fifth but could not tie the game up. They would do that in the sixth though as Erin Tjornhom (Eagan, Minn.) led off with a single and then stole second, advancing to third on a error with no body out. Missie Feuerbach (Iowa City, Iowa) singled her home to tie the game up. CU kept the threat alive with a sac bunt and a single to put runners on first and second with one out. Two ground outs ended the inning as the game went to the seventh tied at three.

Both teams had a base runner in the seventh but could not score as we went to extras. Playing international rules, a runner was placed on second to start the inning. Shippensburg had the first crack and took advantage as a wild pitch put the runner on third and nobody down. She would score on a one out sac fly to right field putting Shippensburg up 4-3.

In Concordia's half of the eighth Brennan was placed on second. After a strikeout, M. Feuerbach doubled scoring Brennan. The game ended a batter later as Bekah Roth (Shoreview, Minn.) singled to center scoring M. Feuerbach and giving CU the win.
