ST. PAUL, Minn. - This Saturday, October 27 at 1 p.m., the Concordia-St. Paul football team (2-6 NSIC, 1-3 South) hosts its final home game of the season against Augustana (3-5 NSIC, 1-3 South) at Sea Foam Stadium. The home finale is also senior day as Concordia's 13 seniors will be honored pre-game. The game is also a Beary Scary Halloween with pre-game trick-or-treating for kids in costumes.
Concordia trails the all-time series 5-3 entering the ninth meeting. The teams have played every year since 2004 with Augustana taking the last four contests. It's the Vikings' second trip to Sea Foam Stadium, as they defeated Concordia 22-16 on Homecoming 2010.
Concordia defensive end
Zach Moore (Chicago, Ill.) leads the defense with eight sacks in as many games played. The junior captain now has 20 career sacks, ranking fifth on the career list and is tied for 15th in the country with his sack per game pace.
Also adding punch defensively is linebacker
Jordan Halverson (Fridley, Minn.), ranking in the top-30 in both tackles and tackles for loss per game.
Offensively,
James Peterson (Blaine, Minn.) is third in the league in passing yards, having surpassed 2,000 for the season and is within a hundred from topping 3,000 for his career. Along with a strong rushing attack, Peterson and the offense are leading the NSIC in red zone scoring percentage, scoring on 91.7% of their 24 trips inside the 20 yard line.
Meanwhile, on special teams, Concordia kicker
Tom Obarski (Burnsville, Minn.) is perfect in 10 tries inside 40 yards and also has range with four of Concordia's longest five field goals all-time including the two longest (56 in 2011, 52 in 2012). He's also the league's third ranked punter, just under 40 yards per punt.
They'll face a tough test as statistically Augustana does just about every well including the top-ranked scoring offense and total offense in the conference, along with the top 3rd down conversion offense at over 50% and one of the top 3rd down defenses at under 35%.
