Concordia falls 2-1 at St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. –
The Concordia University soccer team fell 2-1 at St. Cloud State on Friday afternoon. The Golden Bears drop to 6-6-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the NSIC.

St. Cloud State scored the first goal of the game 6:08 into the first period as Becca Hodous beat the defender to pull out the goalie and found the left side of the net. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.

The Huskies took a two-goal lead in the 73rd minute on a goal by Gabby Fleck, but Concordia replied just :27 seconds later as Jess Bianchi (Rogers, Minn.) netted her fourth goal of the season – Alahna Anderson (White Bear Lake, Minn.) was credited with her first assist. The Golden Bears took three more shots after the goal but couldn't connect for the game-tying score and the game ended at 2-1.

Concordia outshot the Huskies 15-to-11, but was unable to capitalize on the advantage of opportunities. The Golden Bears were also limited to one corner kick for the third time this season. Emma Gartner (Springdale, Ark.) suffered the loss after making six saves, falling to 5-3 on the season.

CU will continue its four-game road trip Sunday at Minnesota Duluth. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at James S. Malosky Stadium.
