for upper iowa, it was their first win since december 18, 2010 and snaps a 29-game losing streak.

the peacocks started out the game with the first eight points as the golden bears were held off the scoreboard for the first five minutes of play when freshman tierra bender (milwaukee, wis.) dished to quiram for her first points of the day.

bender would finish the game with four assists, fouling out in a team-high 34 minutes of play.

upper iowa would extend the lead to 15-4 as they stifled concordia's offense to only four points in the first eight-plus minutes of the game.

concordia shot just 27% (14-52) from the floor on the day, hitting 13% (2-15) from long range and 58% (14-24) at the foul line. They also committed 20 turnovers in the loss.

concordia's defense performed well enough, limiting uiu to 31% (15-49) shooting and 30% (3-10) three-point shooting. But the peacocks got to the foul line 40 times, sinking 29 of them to help offset the 24 turnovers forced by the concordia defense.

uiu also cleaned up on the glass with a 48-31 rebounding margin including a 16-7 edge on the offensive boards.
