although the final margin was 17-points, there were five ties and eight lead changes with concordia holding the upper hand in the early goings.

with the game remaining tight for the first 10-minutes of play, concordia broke a 20-20 tie (the game's fourth tie) by scoring five straight points sparked by a jumper by sophomore megan quiram (eagle lake, minn.) and capped by a three-pointer from sophomore rachel hansen (eagan, minn.) at the 8:29 mark to give them their largest lead of the evening as concordia's defense clamped down by holding host umd scoreless during a two minute stretch of play.

quiram, who scored a career-high nine points last sunday at upper iowa, would once again go for a career-high as she totaled 10 points against the bulldogs. She played 17 minutes off the bench, collecting five rebounds and shooting 5-8 from the field.

hansen, meanwhile, led the squad with 13 points on 3-6 shooting, perfect 6-6 free throw shooting while making the only three she had attempted in building the five point first half advantage.

concordia's largest lead was short-lived, however, as umd rallied for nine unanswered points over the next two minutes and would take a two-point lead into the locker room, 31-29, over the visiting golden bears.

they would not relinquish the lead the rest of the night as they opened up an 18-point lead after completing a 19-1 run by holding concordia to just one point for the first 7:20 of the second half.

concordia didn't come closer than 15 the rest of the way and trailed by as many as 22 points.

freshman anika whiting (ashland, wis.) added 11 points, hitting 3-4 from behind the arc but she was prevented from attempting any shots from inside the arc. Junior mandy poke (richfield, minn.) had a team-high eight rebounds and scored seven points off the bench.

the bulldogs were led by jessica newman's 17 points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench as she played 37 minutes in a reserve role.

three others scored in double figures for the bulldogs, who shot 51.7% from the field in the second half and attempted nearly twice as many as shots (29-15) as the golden bears in the final 20-minutes with concordia committing 13 second half turnovers to umd's six.

concordia looks to snap their seven game skid tomorrow as they travel to bemidji state for a 4:00 p.m. Tip.
