saint paul, minn. - amanda olsen (cottage grove, minn.) was at it again on sunday afternoon scoring two goals in concordia's (4-4, 3-1 nsic) 3-0 victory over minnesota state moorhead (5-2-1, 1-2-1 nsic).
brittany kapala (fridley, minn.) added a goal and assist as cu scored all three goals in the opening 25 minutes of play.
box scorethe golden bears got on the board early, scoring in the fourth minute when
arielle stimson (lakeville, minn.) got the ball to kapala who then put it on the foot of olsen. Olsen did the rest putting the ball past the keeper and into the right corner. Concordia kept the pressure up but did not score until the 24th minute.
lauren hoof (maple grove, minn.) assisted in olsen's second goal of the match, putting the ball on olsen's foot. Olsen took a touch and drilled a shot from about 25 yards out that sailed past the keeper in the top right corner. Under two minutes later stimson almost put the ball in the back of the goal but it was kicked off the line by a dragon defender. It ended up on the foot of kapala who finished it off in an almost empty net. Concordia went into half with a 3-0 lead.
the second half was not as action packed as cu tried to settle play and make sure that the dragons could not get back in the match. The golden bears had nine shots in the second half but none really tested the msum keeper as the match ended 3-0.
megan kurtz (waunakee, wis.) and
kayla kuczaboski (vadnais heights, minn.) combined for the clean sheet. Kurtz made three saves and kuczaboski made two in the match.
the golden bears will head on the road for the next two weeks, first heading to minnesota duluth next saturday and bemidji state next sunday. Olsen now has nine goals in eight games on the season and is one goal shy of tying the regular season goal mark for concordia.
