vadnais heights, minn. - the golden bears (14-6) were swept for the first time in a double header this season since the first two games of the season. #15 minnesota state (23-4) struck out 30 batters over the two games as cu scored two runs in the double header.
erin tjornhom hit her third homerun of the season in the first game as cu fell 5-2. In the second game of the day saw msu's kendra huettl pitch a perfect 4 1/3 innings as the mavericks won 7-0.

in the first inning of game one msu jumped out by scoring three runs. Lauryn morris had a one out single to left to start the rally. She stole second and the next batter singled to right, advancing morris to third. Julie o'neal singled but was thrown out trying advance to second, giving the mavericks a 1-0 lead. Chelsea erickson homered to give msu a 3-0 lead.
in the bottom of the first cu got a run back. Bryn larsen tripled with one out and scored on a two out tjornhom single to right center. It was the first time this season that cu scored in the first inning and did not win the game. The mavericks responded in the top of the second adding to their lead. Christina wood led off the inning with a homer to left center and chelsie krull added another homerun a batter latter to give them a 5-1 lead. Ashley kluever relieved cassye mcmahon and kept cu in the game. She pitched out of a jam in the second and did well after that.
minnesota state's courtney mckelvogue took over the game over the next few innings as she struck cu out in order in the bottom of the second and added two more in the bottom of the third. Her only hiccup came with one out in the fourth inning as tjornhom ripped a homer to to right center. Kluever kept cu in the game as she did not allow a hit in the fourth-seventh inning.
concordia did far much better as did pick up a hit after tjornhom's homer. Mckelvogue struck out 15 golden bears as she moved to 12-2 on the season. Kluever lowered her era to 2.28 on the season.
game 2
as game two began neither team found their offense as cu and msu combined for just one hit in the first 2 1/2 innings. In the first three innings of work huettl stuck out six and did allow a hit out of the infield throwing three perfect innings.
the mavericks picked up their offense in the bottom of the third as they got back to back singles with one out. They then loaded the bases on an error. Stephanie schmikla got a pop fly to third to give cu two outs. Julie o'neal hit a rocket grand slam to left center to give msu a 4-0 lead. Chelsea erickson stepped up and put another one in the stands to break the game open. Huettl put cu down in order again the fourth as cu could not figure her out, striking out eight times in the first few innings.
in the bottom of the fourth msu added a pair of runs as they lead the inning off with single and a double to score a run. Mcmahon relieved schmikla after another single putting runners on first and third with no body out. Schmikla got a sac fly as msu took a 7-0 lead after four.
the golden bears got their first runner of the game in the fifth as tjornhom was hit they pitch with one out. Huettl settled back down keeping her no hitter intact. In the top of the sixth cu's katie anderson ended the no hitter as she had a one out single. Bekah roth added a single latter in the inning as concordia put runners on every base with two outs. Sami mattson struck out to end the threat as cu failed to score in the best chance of the game.
huettle struck out three golden bears in seventh, in the middle of the work katie feuerbach had a double for cu, their only extra base hit of the game. Huettle did her best to not be outdone by mckelvogue as she also struck out 15 in the win.
