Cu closes out florida trip with 8-0 shutout

kissimmee, fla. - the golden bears (14-4) finished up their spring trip with a record of 10-2 after a 8-0 shutout of lees-mcrae. cassye mcmahon picked up the win tossing six innings and allowing just three hits. bekah roth led the offense going 3-4 with three rbi's on the afternoon. The top five batter in the cu lineup all had multiple hits as cu was 15-28 from the plate in the win. box score

once again cu got on top early scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Mcmahon started the game by putting down the first three batters in order ending the inning with a strikeout. katie anderson started cu's half of the inning with a single. Anderson stole second and advanced to third on a brynn larsen single. calli brennan walked to load the bases with no body out. sami mattson was next up and laced a single to score anderson. Roth was next as she singled to score larsen. After a fielder's choice and a missie feuerbach pop up to second katie feuerbach had an rbi single of her own scoring mattson.

lees-mcrae got a single with two outs in the top of the second to break up the no hitter for mcmahon. tessa ewert and anderson singled to lead off the bottom of the second. Larsen sacrificed both to second and third to put more pressure on lmc. Brennan had the big hit of the inning with a two rbi single scoring both anderson and ewert. After two inning cu lead the game 5-0.

mcmahon shut the bobcats down in order once again in the third inning. In the bottom of the third inning concordia erin tjornhom singled and and m. Feuerbach doubled putting runners on second and third with no one out. Following a k. Feuerbach ground out ewert was hit by the pitch to load the bases with one out. The bobcats did their best to stay in the game as they kept cu from scoring retiring the next two batters.

lmc had their only real threat of the game in the top of the fourth as the put runners on first and second with two outs. Mcmahon got a ground out to third to end the inning. Concordia made it 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth as brennan hit a one out double and scored on a two out single by roth. Mcmahon got out of another mini jam in the fifth as lmc got a one out double. Cu had a runner reach on an error with two outs but that was all they could muster.

in the top of the sixth concordia shut down the bobcats 1, 2, 3 in the inning as no body hit the ball out of the infield in the inning. Cu closed out the game in the sixth inning as they started the inning as larsen got a single and brennan was hit by the pitch. Mattson doubled scoring larsen and advancing brennan to third. Roth ended the game with a rbi single scoring brennan.

the golden bears are now off for twelve days before they take on nsic member minnesota state in the vadnais heights dome.
