Cu falls 7-3 in game two of crossover

rochester, minn. - the golden bears (0-2) scored three runs in game two of their nsic/rmac crossover but it wasn't enough as they fell 7-3 to the university of colorado state pueblo (1-0). Four golden bears recorded multiple hits on friday night but the csp bats proved to be too much. The wolves used a five run fifth inning to take control of the game. box score

in the first inning of action both teams managed a hit but were not able to capitolize on it. Cu's katie anderson opened the bottom of the first with her first of two doubles on the evening. Anderson moved to third on a sac bunt was caught stealing home to end the threat.

colorado state-pueblo scored first with two runs in the top of the second. katie feuerbach hit the second man up in the inning and then gave up a homerun to chesser. It was the first of two homeruns on the evening for her. The wolves got a runner to third with two outs but k. Feuerbach got the wolves to lineout to end the inning.

concorida scored a run of their own in the second thanks to an error. missie feuerbach reached on an error with one out and scored on a two out double by erin tjornhom.

the next two innings innings were pretty quiet as neither team scored a run. Cu got out of a mini jam in the top of third when the wolves put a player on second with no outs. Concordia made a push for the tying run in the bottom of four as they put runners on second and third with one out, thanks to a double steal by m. Feuerbach and ashley kluever. Tjornhom grounded out to the pitcher and m. Feuerbach was gunned down at home trying to advance on the throw to first.

the wolves busted the game open in the fifth as they scored five runs off three hits and an error. An inning opening walk followed by an error put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. The next batter was hit by a pitch to load the bases with zero outs. The wolves got a single by the next batter in the lineup but scored just one run as brynn larsen gunned down the runner tyring to go from second to home. Another walk loaded the bases up again, before a sacrafice fly made it 4-1 with two outs. Chesser put the game out of reach hitting her second bomb of the evening to bring the wolves lead to six, 7-1.

the golden bears put runners of first and second to begin the bottom of the fifth inning, from bekah roth and tessa ewert to put the pressure on csp. Following an anderson fly out, larsen gapped the ball for a double and scored roth from second. calli brennan get the rally alive with a rbi single to score ewert from third. The rally and inning ended with a lineout and popup to the second baseman.

stephanie schmikla relived k. Feuerbach in the sixth and threw two innings of no hit ball to give cu a chance to comeback. The golden bears managed to get a runner on in each inning but couldn't get any runs on the board. The best chance came in the botton of the seventh when brennan doubled down the line with one out and then advanced to third with two outs but the game ended with a m. Feuerbach ground out to short.

concordia will play three games on saturday as they contiue their play in the nsic/rmac crossover. The schedule for tomorrow is as follows:
uc-colorado springs at 2:00 p.m.
nebraska-kearney at 6:00 p.m.
adams state at 8:00 p.m.
