U-Mary outlasts CU 3-1

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Golden Bears (5-9, 4-6 NSIC) fell to U-Mary (9-6-1, 6-4-1) on Saturday afternoon 3-1 sending CU to their fourth straight NSIC loss. Arielle Stimson (Lakeville, Minn.) had her second goal of the season in defeat and Amanda Olsen (Cottage Grove, Minn.) picked up the assist. Mary had an early goal in each half which hurt Concordia. Mary scored off a long free kick from about 35 yards out as Jessica Curl bent the ball with her left foot, beating Kayla Kuczaboski (White Bear Lake, Minn.) over her head. Twenty minutes later Michelle Jones scored on a breakaway getting the feed from Dayna Domingo. Three minutes late Stimson got a pass form Olsen on the right side of the box and beating Ashley Akers on her right. Concordia missed a second chance to score as Kay Smith (Dekalb, Ill.) was denied by Akers at point blank range.

In the second half Kaitlin Walsh added a goal for Mary in the 48th minute. She received a flick on from Domingo and buried in the ball in the left side of the net. Toward the end of the 90 minutes of play Stimson had a brillant header that was rocketed in the back of the net. The goal was called back on a very close offside call as the match ended 3-1 in favor of Mary.

Concordia will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they face Norhtern State in senior night. The match will kick off at 1:00 p.m. following the honoring of Lauren Hoof, Savannah Nolen, Megan Kurtz and Chloe Weinberg.
