mankato, minn. -the minnesota state mavericks were able to put a halt to the golden bears (2-3-1) two match winning streak on sunday, afternoon upending cu 3-1. Msu was also able to hold arielle stimson scoreless for the first time in five matches. Concordia's kim sauberlich had the teams lone goal as they fell to 1-1 in nsic play. box score

concordia opened up the scoring in the fourth minute, off a free kick from sauberlich, her first goal of the year. The game remained 1-0 in favor cu all through the first half. megan kurtz stopped three shots in the first half.

the mavericks were able to tie the match at one in the 66' minute. Msu struck again just two minutes later and took the lead 2-1. The mavericks kept the pressure on and notched their third goal in the 77' minute. Concordia was unable to have a shot on goal in the second half and although they were able to stop five maverick shots it was not enough. Kurtz finished the game with eight saves and falls to 1-2-1 on the season.

cu's stimson was held without a shot for the first time all season. Concordia will be back in action next weekend as they travel to minnesota state moorhead on saturday afternoon and then on to minnesota crookston on sunday. Both matches are scheduled for a 1 p.m. Start.
