Wildcats silence CU's playoff hopes 2-1

saint paul, minn. - the golden bears, 5-10-1(4-8 nsic), came into today's match needing a result to stay in contention for a spot in the nsic tournament. Unfortunately wayne state, 8-5-4 (4-4-4 nsic), was able to get past cu 2-1. The golden bears played hard and out shot the wildcats 14-7 but were only able to find the net once, a kari janes penalty in the 55th minute. box score

the wildcats got on the board first off of a free kick in the 33rd minute. The free kick was awarded just about 20 yards out and on the left side of the 18 yard box. The kick sailed toward the right side of the net and hit off cu keeper kayla kuczaboski's out stretched arm and into the corner.

wsc struck again in the 50th minute with the chance coming from a loose ball off a corner kick. Kuczaboski got tangled up with a wsc player and a fellow teammate off the initial corner kick and kelsey meyer got the rebound off her own corner kick and put the ball in the back of the net.

cu got on the board in the 55th min when wsc was whistled for a foul inside the box, giving concordia a penalty opportunity. Senior kari janes took the penalty for cu and beat the keep low on the right side.

the golden bears will be back in action at sea foam stadium, tomorrow at 1 p.m. As they play host to augustana in the regular season finale.
