saint paul, minn. - the #6 golden bears put together their fifth straight sweep of an nsic opponent tuesday night to extend their nsic regular season streak to 62 with 25-7, 25-9, 25-10 win over bemidji state. The team had a season high 14 blocks in victory. Cu hit .446 on the night with 41 kills. emily palkert led the way with 11 kills. Cu female aow kayla koenecke had six kills and hit .750.
megan carlson led the cu defense with 12 digs, the defense as a total held the beavers to a hitting percentage of -.134 a season low for a cu opponent. amanda konetchy had 35 assists and 3 kills on the evening.
the golden bears hit .750 in the first set in a 25-7 set win, palkert had four kills in the set. Cu jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead causing the beavers to call a timeout. The golden bears kept on the pressure and extended the lead to 13-2. From then on out concordia's attack did the rest, bsu was only able to dig two attacks in the set.
cu got out again quickly in the second set forcing a bsu timeout with a 11-3 lead. The golden bears kept up the defensive pressure and had eight total blocks through the first two sets. Bsu held the golden bears offense down compared to set one but cu still walked away with the set 25-9.
concordia led 14-6 to open the set and force a timeout, the beavers were trying to figure out how to beat the cu defense all night. Cu had six blocks in the final set and was able to win 25-10.
the golden bears are back at the gangelhoff this weekend for two matches against nationally ranked teams. They host #14 minnesota state mankato friday at 7 p.m. On saturday they host #2 southwest minnesota state at 4 p.m.
