st. Paul, minn. - emily weimelt scored twice in the first ten minutes of play to give the concordia university soccer team a quick 2-0 lead over southwest minnesota state. The golden bears never looked back, going on to win 5-1 in their first victory in sea foam stadium. The golden bears are now 5-4-2 on the year and 2-1-1 in the nsic. Southwest minnesota state falls to 0-7 overall, 0-4 in conference play.
weimelt added an assist to her game totals on a goal by arielle stimson at the 23:21 mark.
the mustangs only goal was scored by tatum borstad with an assist from liz judkins coming off of a corner kick at the 41:25 mark.
stimson went on to score another goal later in the game on an assist from savannah nolen. stimson now has five goals on the season. the final golden bear goal came on an unassisted shot from the right side of the goal by nacole kiss that sailed past southwest minnesota's keeper, kendra olchefske.
the golden bears outshot the mustangs 23-11 with 13 shots on goal to southwest's two. Concordia university will be in action again next weekend playing host to minnesota crookston on friday, october 2 at 3:00. Then hosting minnesota state moorhead for parents and senior day on sunday, october 4 at 1:00 game. box
