Cu adds three to season win total against marauders

lincoln, neb. - the concordia baseball team (14-3) added three more wins to their season total in a big way this afternoon against the university of mary on a neutral field in non-conference action at sherman field. They won 9-4, 20-5, 15-3 in an unconvetional triple-header. Senior kirk ingram (woodbury, minn.) earned a win and a save in a productive day on the mound.

the first win was resumed from february 6 at the metrodome where cu led 8-3 going into the bottom of the sixth.

each team added a run during the final six outs. Senior aaron pfazlgraff (garland, texas) picked up his long awaited victory in what was officially his first start of the year. Freshman ben lemke (rosemount, minn.) struck out the side in the top of the seventh after allowing a run to hold the victory for pfalzgraff and the golden bears.

senior jake schmidt (oakdale, minn.) homered at the metrodome in that win.

in the traditional doubleheader immediately following the completion of the suspended game, the concordia offense rolled up big numbers while the pitching staff took care of business.

the first full seven inning game of the day was a romp, with cu rolling up 20 runs in a 15 run victory. Lemke started the game, pitching the first three innings before being removed. After throwing the final inning of the resumed game, lemke had reached his limit for the day and did not factor into the decision.

senior lefy kirk ingram earned the win pitching the final four innings in his longest outing of the year.

senior chris herbert (white bear lake, minn.) had a big day with a 5-6 performance including a pair of doubles and two runs. Sophomore jon stockton (oakdale, minn.) went 4-5 drilling a double and scoring twice. Freshman shortstop bryan lippincott (des moines, iowa) went 3-3 and never failed to reach base walking twice and scoring twice. Senior brenden furrow (johnston, iowa) also produced a multi-hit game going 2-5.

in the third game, sophomore nick anderson (wayzata, minn.) started with ingram saving the 15-3 win. Furrow continued his hot hitting by going 3-4 stroking a pair of doubles while senior zane froehlich (sioux falls, s.d.) added a 2-4 effort.

the golden bears and marauders will play a nine inning contest tomorrow at noon at kiwanis field. The game will conclude the season series which will have five full games. Cu currently leads 4-0.

full box scores and updated season stats will not be available until the clubs head back to minnesota after the weekend series.
