Soccer falls in second half

bismarck, n.d. - concordia university's soccer team led 1-0 at the midpoint of their metting with the university of mary, but three second half marauder goals brought up a 3-1 loss for the golden bears.

the golden bears fall to 6-13-0 overall and 3-9-0 in the nsic while the marauders improve to 10-8-0 and 9-2-0 in the league. U-mary has won three straight and is tied for second in the nsic standings.

sophomore hannah baker gave the golden bears a huge lift 31 minutes into the game against the university of mary. She took a shot from about 35 yards out and put it over the head of u-mary keeper coyle brannigan for an early 1-0 concordia lead. The golden bears limited the marauders to only three shots in the half and took their single goal lead into the intermission.

the university of mary played an extremely aggressive second half, striking their first goal just over six minutes into the final period. Amy tanaka was credited with the goal as a free kick just outside the penalty area was deflected into the golden bear goal. The go-ahead score was struck by jessica janusz at the 63:14 mark in a scramble in front of the net.

the marauders held their lead, keeping the golden bears without a second half shot and putting in a security goal at the 82:30 mark, also scored by janusz.

concordia finished the game with two shots on goal, one from baker and another from katie johnson. They had nine shots in the game. Keyton wheelock made seven saves and allowed three goals in the loss.

the marauders took 19 shots throughout the matchup, 16 of which came in the second half. They finished with ten shots on goal, including five from janusz.

the golden bears conclude the regular season next sunday at st. Cloud state.
