Late goal spells trouble for Golden Bears

aberdeen, s.d. - the golden bear soccer team (6-12, 3-8 nsic) held off the wolves of northern state (10-6-1, 6-3-1 nsic) through 82 minutes of play at jerde field in aberdeen, s.d., but a late push put the wolves up 1-0 for the nsic win. Concordia continues road play at the university of mary tomorrow afternoon. The game will be broadcast free on www.northernsun.tv.

the golden bear offense was held to only three total shots in the game and a single shot on goal. Despite their lack of scoring power, they went into the final ten minutes of the game in good position after having fended off the wolves' attack. Northern state took 25 shots in the game, 15 in the first period and ten in the second, and had 13 shots on goal.

concordia keeper keyton wheelock saved the first 12 balls put on goal from the wolves. Only the 13th and final shot slipped past her for a goal. Nsu's aleasha devaney passed a long ball to kaylee mcdonald, who shot it 15 yards into the upper right corner of the net for the game-winning score.

the golden bears' only shot on goal came from senior casandra rikkola in the second period.
