Bears blanked 3-0 by Northern Michigan

Concordia-st. Paul (1-5-2) continued their early season offensive struggles, falling 3-0 to northern michigan (4-1-1) on friday afternoon on a cool, clear and windy day at concordia field.

the golden bears defense finally allowed a goal after 236 consecutive scoreless minutes, spanning four 45:00 halves and four 10:00 overtimes in the previous two games.

but northern michigan's kari buckel scored the first of her three goals in the 17th minute of the contest.

concordia's defense had been playing so well recently, in fact, that they had allowed just one goal over a span of 340 minutes, a span of four-plus games including three double-overtime contests.

the offense couldn't get going today, however, with the bears firing just seven shots and only two coming on goal. kari janes and taylor campione attempted concordia's two shots on goal.

keyton wheelock took the loss in the net, facing 14 shots, 10 on goal while making seven saves in 90 minutes.

the bears will look to get back on the scoreboard tomorrow for the first time since their 1-0 win against winona state back on september 5 when they travel to take on southwest minnesota state in marshall, minn. At 1:00 p.m.
