Sophomores
mary slinger and
maggie mcnamara led the no. 6 concordia-st. Paul volleyball team past the no. 7 truman state bulldogs in three games, 30-28, 30-24, 30-26 on friday evening at the gangelhoff center. In their second match of the ramada downtown minneapolis/concordia tournament, slinger posted 34 digs while mcnamara distributed 52 assists.
mcnamara's assists were spread out with 14 kills going to juniors
maria steinhagen and
whitney meierotto. Steinhagen led the bears, hitting .600 in 20 attempts with two errors and also had five blocks (one solo). Meierotto starts the season with back-to-back double-doubles as she also had 18 digs.
emily palkert was the third bear in double-digit kills with 12 while
raina hein added nine.
rachel knutson and
krista erickson each had 10 digs as well.
the bears dominated defensively with 84 digs to truman's 62. Concordia held the bulldogs to a .138 hitting pct. For the match, including a paltry .088 (10k-5e-57ta) in the third and deciding game.
the bears will face barry at 1:00 and millersville at 7:30 to close out the ramada downtown minneapolis/concordia tournament.
