Concordia university (24-27) dropped their first two games of the day before rebounding with a win in the third game to finish 1-2 on the first day of the microtel inn suites classic in north mankato, minn. but umd capitalized on four concordia errors in the seventh to put up six more runs to take a seven run lead, 8-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

the bears managed just two hits on offense and stranded five runners on in the loss.

in the third game, the bears and huskies battled in a pitcher's duel with scsu jumping ahead with an unearned run in the first.

the score remained 1-0 through three innings until the bears tied things up in the fourth when josey olson led off the bottom of the inning with a single through the left side. She came around to score when amanda yurek doubled to center on the next play.

but st. Cloud state would respond with a run in the fifth, going up 2-1.

concordia would mount a rally in the bottom of the sixth when j.olson and yurek produced back-to-back one out singles to put runners on first and second.

after a brundidge strikeout and a mallory olson walk to load the bases, tiffani rodd stepped up and delivered the game-winning two run single to left field.
