The concordia softball team (11-10) earned a split against wisconsin-river falls (13-5), tuesday afternoon falling in the first game 4-1, but bounced back to secure a 2-0 win in game two.
in game one, freshman
anna bjorlin tallied two of the bears three hits, including her second career home run in the fifth inning. Sophomore
nicole tischler had concordia's other hit in the first inning as the stranded only three runners in the game.
wisconsin-river falls got on the board in fourth inning, as they were able to string three straight singles and five in the inning off
jenny kaminski, who falls to 7-3 on the season. The falcons finished with four runs on nine hits in the game.
bjorlin led off game two with a triple to right field and scored when the next batter, sophomore
melissa bergdall singled to left center giving the bears an early 1-0 lead. They would give pitcher
mandy turba an insurance run in the sixth inning when senior
mallory olson singled to centerfield and advanced to second when freshman
tiffany rodd got to first on a fielder's choice. Freshman
nikki scherr loaded the bases on a walk and sophomore
natalie mast scored olson on a walk giving concordia a 2-0 lead.
turba earned her fourth win (4-7) and her third shutout of the season allowing only five hits and striking out two. The bears finished the game with two runs on five hits.
the bears will be off for a week. They will travel to st. Cloud state on apr. 3 for a double-header.
