Bears get sweep of Pittsburg State on road

In game one, Matt Borman went 4-5 with four singles and scored three runs. He also pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and struck out three. The Bears also had fifteen hits in the game with Mason Reinhart and Jake Schmidt recording the only extra base hits, with doubles. Schmidt also went 3-4 with two rbi in the game.

Concordia scored scored its ten runs on 15 hits, while Pittsburg State was held to only two runs on five hits.

The Bears jumped out to a 8-1 lead in the first three innings, but scored two runs in the top of the seventh to break an 8-8 tie and held on to beat the Gorillas in game two. Jake Campion came in to get the last two outs with runners on first and second to earn the save.
 
Concordia scored ten runs on only seven hits in the second game, with the PSU pitching staff giving up seven walks and hit three Concordia batters. Ted Farni earned three walks and scored two runs, while Schmidt recorded his first career home run in the seventh inning to give the bears the lead. Greg Winegarden had a double in the seventh and scored on a Borman double. Derek Mason was the only player with more than one hit as he went 2-4 with two runs scored.

Blake Devries earned the win giving up four runs on seven hits and striking out four. Aaron Pfalzgraff also pitched 2.1 solid innings giving up one run on one hit and striking out four.

The Bears will face Pittsburg state in another double-header on Sunday at 12:00.
