The concordia softball team suffered a pair of losses to open the 2007 season at the husky open in st. Cloud saturday, falling to south dakota in the opener 7-5 and the university of mary 6-0 in their second game.

tiffany rodd's first collegiate hit was a grand slam in the fourth inning against south dakota, cutting the coyote lead to 6-4, but it was not enough. The bears recorded six hits from six different players in the first game, with freshman
anna bjorlin recording the only other extra-base hit, a double in the fifth inning. Bjorlin was on-base three times in the game and junior
mallory olson was on-base four times. Each scored one run.
for the game, the bears scored five runs on six hits, with four south dakota errors. They left six runners on base. Senior
mandy turba took the loss, allowing seven runs, all earned, on eight hits, with six strikeouts and three walks.
in the second game, the bears got just five singles and never got a runner past second base. Rodd and senior
amanda yurek were the only players to get on-base twice in the game.

jenny kaminski took the loss in her first game for the bears, allowing six earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and five walks.
the bears will play pittsburg state at 10:00 on sunday morning and northern state at 4:00 in the second day of the husky open in st. Cloud.
