The concordia bats came alive thursday afternoon as the bears scored 19 runs on 27 hits to defeat upper iowa 11-1 in six innings and 8-4 in game two. On the day senior nikki smith went 6-8 with two doubles, a triple, a home run and seven rbi.

the bears scored five runs in the sixth inning highlighted by a three-run home run by smith to end the first game. The bears scored 11 runs on 15 hits, with six different batters having at least two hits. kristin linell (right) went 3-4 with two rbi and two runs scored and vanessa dufresne went 3-4 with two runs scored. tracie enzler went 2-4 with two doubles and scored three runs.

kristen schmidt (left) pitched seven innings allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts. She also went 2-2 with a double and scored two runs.

in the second game the bears scored three runs in the third and three in the fourth inning to get the win. Smith again swung a hot bat, going 4-4 with two doubles, a triple and four rbi. Linell also went 2-3 and scored two runs, while dufresne went 2-4 with two runs scored.

on the game, the bears scored eight runs on 12 hits. mandy turba gave up four runs on five hits with three walks. Schmidt came in a pitched a perfect sixth and seventh inning, striking out four of the six batters she face.

concordia improves to 29-11 on the year and will play at the nsic tournament this weekend in bemidji.
