Concordia university (27-11) won the concordia tournament title as they posted a 3-2 win over msu moorhead and a 7-1 victory over minnesota duluth to improve their record to 4-1 in the tournament on saturday afternoon at dunning field in st. Paul, minn. With the two wins, the bears have now won four straight and are now 14-3 in their past 17 games.

junior mandy turba (left) improved to 13-3 on the season as she pitched six innings allowing two runs (one earned) while scattering seven hits and striking out five without issuing a walk. Senior kristen schmidt worked a 1-2-3 seventh to record her fourth save of the season.

third baseman amanda yurek (right) went 2-3 at the dish with an rbi and freshman shortstop natalie mast was 1-3 with a triple and a run. Sophomore nicole tischler was 1-3 with an rbi.

in the second game, schmidt (left) earned the victory as she worked a complete game with nine strikeouts. She surrendered just five hits and a run after retiring the first 11 batters of the game. With the win, schmidt now stands at 14-8 on the year.

outfielders vanessa dufresne and nikki smith (right)each went 3-4 in the contest, with dufresne scoring a pair of runs while smith had a pair of doubles and rbi. Second baseman kelly schwietz went 2-4 including a two-run single.

right fielder laura tischler (left) drilled her second career home run over the center field fence in the sixth inning as she was 1-3 in the contest.

concordia returns to action when they play host to future nsic member upper iowa on thursday, april 20 at dunning field for a 1 p.m. Doubleheader in non-conference action.
