The concordia softball team's 11-game winning streak came to an end tuesday afternoon as the bears dropped a pair of nsic games at winona state 5-1 and 3-0.
the bears scored the first run of the day in the first inning of game one on a double by
tracie enzler (left) and then scored on an error by winona state's third baseman on a hit by
vanessa dufresne. It would be the only run they would score in the next 13 innings.
concordia scored one run on six hits in the first game, while winona state scored five runs on nine hits off of
kristen schmidt, who finished with five strikeouts.
in the second game, the bears were held to two hits, both by schmidt. She also took the loss on the mound giving up three runs on six hits with two strikeouts.
in the two games, the bears managed just eight hits, with three doubles. Schmidt was 4-6 on the day. She also took both losses on the mound.
with the losses, the bears fall to 23-10 (6-2 nsic) on the season, while winona state moves to 27-7-1 (6-0 nsic). Concordia will host the 2006 easter tournament friday and saturday at dunning fields. Games begin both days at 9:00.
