The concordia softball team went 1-2 in the first day of action at the missouri western tournament in st. Charles. The bears got a win over truman state, but lost to emporia state and central missouri.

the bears defeated truman 5-2 in the first game of the day with the help of a couple of hits by mallory olson (left), who had a double, a home run with two rbi to lead the bears offense. On the mound, kristen schmidt (right) allowed four hits and had 11 strikeouts to earn the win.

in the second game of the day, the bears got 15 strikeouts from schmidt, but were only able to muster a single run on a home run by tracie enzler (left) as the bears suffered a 3-1 loss to emporia state in eight innings.

the bears lost 6-5 to central missouri state after allowing three runs in the bottom of the seventh in a game that went late into the night. amanda yurek hit her second home run of the season in the game.

the bears will play missouri western and washburn in the second day of the tournament on sunday. Game times will be 11:30 and 3:30.
