the concordia women's basketball team rebounded from fridays loss to defeat msu moorhead 79-64 at alex nemzek fieldhouse in moorhead on saturday night. Senior guard nakia carlisle led four bears in double-figues with 18 points.
sophomore candace olstad recorded her first career-double, posting career in points (11) and tying another with 11 rebounds in her fouth career start. Olstad went 4-7 from the field, including 3-5 from three point range. She also had two blocks in the game.
carlisle shot 8-15 for the game and added five rebounds and three assists in the win. Sophomore katie laviolette turned in another solid performance with 12 points on 4-8 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line, along with six assists. amanda behnke was the other bear in double-figures, with 10 points and four rebounds.
the bears caused 19 msu moorhead turnovers and converted that into 24 points. They also scored 32 points in the paint, compared to 16 for msu moorhead.
for the game, concordia shot 30-65 (.462) from the field and 15-20 (.750) from the free throw line. They held the dragons to 19-50 (.380) from the field. Msu moorhead outrebounded concordia 37-36.
with the win, the bears imrove to 15-8 (6- nsic), while msu moorhead falls to 13-10 (6-4 nsic). Concordia will he in action at the gangelhoff center on friday, feb. 17, when nsic leader wayne state comes to town.
