Concordia university (0-3) saw a 73-69 lead with :37 to play evaporate as minnesota duluth (1-2) drained the game-winning three-pointer with :13 to bury the bears, 76-73 on saturday evening at the wildwood lodge tip-off classic at the gangelhoff center.
leading 73-71, the bulldogs' stephanie ritter connected on the three-pointer on a pass from tournament mvp katy freeman. The bears turned the ball over on the inbounds pass setting up a pair of free throws by katie winkelman, who was also selected to the all-tournament team.
the bears led by as much as 10, 58-48 with a 12-2 run midway through the second half (9:26) but umd mounted a 17-2 run over the next 4:02 to take a 65-60 lead. They extended the lead to seven, 69-62 with 3:32 remaining and appeared to have regained momentum.
concordia countered with an 11-0 run over the next 2:53 to take their four point lead sparked. The run was sparked by a freshman

mary schroeder added a three-pointer during the stretch. But cu was unable to score in the final :37 to take their third-straight loss.
jones was concordia's only representative on the all-tournament, scoring 21 points while dicing up the umd backcourt for six steals. She also added five rebounds and finished 8-15 from the field, 2-4 from three-point territory and 3-3 at the stripe in 34 minutes.

katie laviolette (right) set the wildwood lodge tip-off classic single-game record by dishing a game-high nine assists while scoring 10 points and collecting four rebounds with a steal in 27 minutes.
behnke (left) finished with seven points and six rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench and hit 5-6 from the stripe in the contest, giving her the tip-off classic records for most free throws made (13) and attempted (23) in the two-day event.
concordia had six players score at least seven points in a balanced effort as schroeder had nine points while junior guard
kelly lund and sophomore forward
candace olstad each scored eight.
the bears continued their shooting woes in the first half, hitting just 37.5% (12-32) from the field, but finished strong, shooting 50.0% (12-24) in the final 20 minutes to finish 42.9% (24-56) for the contest. They also hit 41.2% (7-17) from downtown.
the bulldogs were led by freeman's 26 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. She shot 8-12 from the field and 9-10 at the foul line. Winkelman contributed 20 points for the second consecutive night while adding five rebounds and three steals.
