The concordia men's team opened the 2006-07 season with a 76-72 win over north dakota in the bears first regular-season game under first year head coach kelly boe at the valley imports classic at alex nemzek fieldhouse in moorhead.

marlon walker led the bears with a team-high 15 points and 7 rebounds. He was an impressive 6-7 from the field, including 2-2 from three point range and 1-1 from the free throw line.

craig heiman had 14 points on 5-8 shooting from the field and 3-6 from the three point range in his first action in a bears uniform. kyle marxhausen added 13 as the only other csp player to score in double-figures. He was 6-8 from the free throw line.

the bears built a 13 point lead in the first half at 24-11 and led 39-30 at the intermission. They would get the 13 point advantage back at 57-44 with 11:41 to play in the game, but the sioux would cut the lead to two at 64-62 with 4:32 to play, but csp would go on a 8-2 run to go up 72-64 with 23 seconds left. Und would again cut the lead to two at 72-70 with 12 seconds remaining and again with six seconds left (74-72), but the bears converted their last four free throws to secure the win, two by joey peel and two by james sarbacker.

for the game, concordia converted 26-55 (47.3%) of their shots, including 9-19 (47.4%) from three point range. They also converted 15-21 from the free throw line. The bears outrebounded the sioux 32-30. Csp committed 24 turnovers, compared to 17 for und.

josh doyle led the sioux with 18 points, while jimmy hoy added 15 in the loss. Emmanual little had a game-high 11 rebounds for the sioux.

concordia is now 1-0 on the season and will face chadron state in the second day of the msu moorhead tournament at 6:00 on sat., nov. 18th.
