Freshman point guard
jamie jones knocked down a jumper with six seconds to play as concordia university won their final exhibition contest 64-63 over north tartan elite on sunday afternoon at the gangelhoff center.
jones finished with 10 points, seven assists, three rebounds and three steals in 27 minutes off the bench for the golden bears.
junior forward
amanda behnke recorded a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds (eight offensive) and added four steals and four blocks in 27 minutes. She led the bears to a 55-30 rebounding advantage and 34-14 edge in points in the paint.
behnke's 12 points were tied for a team-high with sophomore forward
candace olstad who was 4-7 from the field and grabbed six boards. Also scoring in double-figures was junior guard
lindsey palmer, who buried three three-pointers off the bench and scored 11 points in 20 minutes for cu.
the cu bench outscored the elite 30-17 for the contest.
north tartan was led by a few familiar faces as former cu guard
ashley smith scored a game-high 19 points and had six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals while another former cu guard and current student assistant coach
nakia carlisle added 10 points on 3-6 shooting in 21 minutes off the bench against the bears.
concordia, who finished the exhibition season 1-1, will open their 2006-07 schedule on wednesday, nov. 15 when they travel to sioux falls, s.d. To take on augustana college at 7 p.m.
