the concordia women's soccer team (7-9-1, 5-2 nsic) continued their breakthrough season as they went on the road and shutout wayne state (7-8-1, 2-4 nsic) 2-0 on saturday afternoon in wayne, neb.

the win for the golden bears sets a school record with five conference wins in head coach joe alianiello's first season, breaking their 2004 mark when they went 4-3 under former head coach scott zachmann.

the bears scored the game-winner in the 16th minute when senior rachel vitense (left) scored on a penalty kick, beating wildcat goaltender jamie anderson. Sophomore sam voeller (right) added the second goal for cu with just under four minutes to play in regulation when she blasted a 25 yard shot past anderson to down the wildcats.

vitense, who leads the bears in assists with nine, put in her first goal of the season while voeller's goal was her third of the year.

sophomore goalkeeper keyton wheelock posted the shutout win in the net, stopping six shots in the contest. It was her second shutout of the season and she improves to 3-4 on the season.

concordia returns to the field tomorrow afternoon when they take on sw minnesota state in marshall, minn. At 1:00.
